For the Love of Lava
I love the word “lava.” I love that it sounds like “love.” I love that my dog shares the same name. I love it so much that I’d even consider naming my future daughter Lava – though maybe that would be overdoing it a bit. I also love that I have another dog named Rio, and I can call them “Rio de Lava”—such a beautiful combination of words meaning “the river of lava.” Don’t you think they’re just two sides of the same coin? A river and molten lava.
Nature, life, beauty and pain are so deeply intertwined that one cannot exist without the other. Everything that is beautiful carries a hint of ugliness – even a bird when it hunts its prey, or a river when it becomes violent. I have always been sensitive to those kinds of situations; finding beauty in them is no easy task. But to know Earth is to love Earth, to know life is to love life, and to know lava is to love lava.
Lava comes from deep within the ground. It’s bold, strong, and passionate. It has the power to destroy anything in its path. Yet, after it erupts and destroys, it has the ability to heal, enrich the soil, and create new landforms and new beginnings.
I see lava reflected in my work. Melting down silver and gold and giving them new life by shaping them into different forms is my way of healing. My wish is to make jewellery pieces that have true human value, not just material worth – jewellery pieces that will be passed down from generation to generation, each encapsulating a world of its own.
I hold my mom’s jewellery pieces so close to my heart; they feel like parts of me. Of course, we are the ones who give them meaning, but to me, those kinds of pieces are love letters – and how wonderful it is that they can always be with us. Hopefully, I’ll help write many love letters in my life.
I seek lightness and tenderness in my life. The pieces are caringly shaped by my hands, the materials hold the memory of every gesture made. Coming into contact with skin, one can feel the molding, the hammering, and the love that went into shaping it.
Thank you for valuing craftsmanship.
May my jewellery embrace you lovingly.
With love and tenderness,
Lava Studio

Welcome to Lava studio
I work with precious metals to create bespoke, one-of-a-kind fine jewelry, thoughtfully crafted to endure and to be passed down through generations.
I place great importance on the materials I use. Most of my work is made in high-karat gold 14k, 18k, or 22k and often features carefully sourced stones such as diamonds, sapphires, and pearls. Each piece is either custom made or made to order, with a rotating selection of unique designs and smaller, thoughtfully curated collections.
Every piece is handcrafted in my studio in Ljubljana, in the company of my beautiful dogs, Rio and Lava. I currently work from a shared space, with plans underway for a dedicated studio of my own. My work is guided by a deep commitment to quality materials chosen for their beauty and durability, timeless design, and sustainability. Whenever possible, I incorporate antique, vintage, or reclaimed stones, alongside ethically sourced diamonds.
My aim is to fuse ancient jewellery making techniques with modern methods like wax carving and occasional 3D modeling. I love when the process is visible, the molding, shaping, and filing. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship that embraces organic forms, making each piece feel natural, imperfect, and not overly polished.
Lava Studio is a small business and I intend to keep it that way. Every piece passes through my hands. I dedicate the time and care to each piece, from concept to final polish, avoiding haste to ensure lasting quality.
With love,
Tiana
